Glass Subway Kitchen Backsplash in West End
This kitchen backsplash was installed during a broader kitchen renovation in a West End home. The client selected a green glass subway tile to complement the white painted cabinets and dark granite countertops. Glass tile is translucent, and the thinset color shows through the face if a gray or tan adhesive is used. We used a bright white thinset to keep the glass color accurate and prevent the grout joints from reading differently behind the tile face.
The tile was set in a running bond pattern from counter to cabinet. Outlet boxes were removed before tiling and reinstalled with extended rings to bring them flush with the new tile surface. The backsplash terminates at the corner shelf unit with a clean cut edge rather than a trim piece, which kept the look consistent with the open shelving above.
