Marble-Look Shower Remodel in West End
This walk-in shower was a full gut-and-retile in a 1930s West End bungalow. The original tub-shower combo was removed and the space was rebuilt as a dedicated walk-in shower. Large-format Calacatta-look porcelain was selected for the walls, with a small-format mosaic floor for drainage slope and slip resistance. The dual shower head fixture was roughed in by a plumber before our tile work began.
The key preparation step was applying a sheet waterproofing membrane to the pan and all four walls before any tile was set. The membrane was flood-tested and allowed to cure fully before we started tiling. On a bungalow this age, that step is not optional. We also installed a built-in bench on the back wall using the same large-format tile, with a mitered outside corner edge for a clean look without a metal trim piece.
